Lion: King of the Savanna
The lion, often referred to as the "king of the savanna," is one of the most iconic animals in the world. Found primarily in Africa, lions are known for their majestic manes, powerful builds, and incredible social structure.
Lions live in prides, which typically consist of related females, their cubs, and a few males. This social organization allows them to hunt cooperatively and defend their territory effectively. Their roars, audible from up to five miles away, serve as a warning to rivals and a call to members of their pride.
As apex predators, lions play a critical role in regulating prey populations. However, they face challenges from habitat destruction, poaching, and conflicts with humans. Protecting lions is vital not only for their survival but also for the health of the ecosystems they inhabit.
